About us . . . the beginning

In 1990, the Hospital Support Services, Inc. (HSS) focus was simply to work with hospitals that released unpaid accounts which were discarded by other agencies. By converting these discarded accounts into reimbursements for its clients, HSS carved out a reputation for doing the impossible. As the world of medical assistance eligibility evolved, HSS soon recognized the absence of advocacy programs that fit the needs of the community, while enabling healthcare providers to keep their doors open with appropriate funding.

Today, the HSS cutting-edge computer support operating system, twenty-five skilled staff members, an unparalleled relationship with companies and agencies in private and public sectors result in: Help for those who need it most, appropriate reimbursements, and many new cost-containment procedures for those we serve.

75,000 cases processed, over $100 million recovered

HSS operates primarily in the Maryland area. However, the execution of its business matters often extends into surrounding states and across the country, making its services available to healthcare providers, long-term care facilities, and private individuals. HSS’ interaction reaches into many areas of health care provider operations—from the corporate office to the front office, admissions, patient accounting, and case management to the professional services side, which includes physicians, nurses, case managers, diagnosticians, and laboratory personnel.

No matter what the challenge, medical assistance eligibility is the result

While the end product remains the same for our individual clients—medical assistance eligibility—the fact is that no two delivery systems are alike. Moreover, the process of achieving eligibility differs from one patient population to another. With over 16 years of experience, HSS offers its clients the knowledge and experience to adapt to any situation and meet its objective, including a successful result when overseeing specialized alien circumstances.
