You answered your own question. Translink are the reason why the system doesn't work. Ever since their inception there's been nothing but waste, rising costs and a bloody mess. I thought that the LNP would have trashed them, but they apparently love them just as much as the ALP did.

The reason for closing the Edward Street gates in the evenings is quite simple reducing unnecessary staff levels Equipoise Research Ethics after peak hour.
